She has also attended workshops with Angela Nesbit, Nicholas Stewart, Kelley Brugh, Dario Mastrosimone in Argentina, Cynthia Packard, Larry Moore, Nancy Franke and most recently, Melinda Cootsna . She was a finalist in 2012 for the Red Sky Gallery Juried Andy Braitman Student Show. In 2015 she won the Art With Heart Juried Artist Competition at the Elder Gallery (formerly known as the Emerging Artist Competition). From 2016-2019, she has been honored to be a featured artist for Art With Heart. She has participated for 3 years in Spotlight for Art in Atlanta and is an ongoing art contributor for the Peninsula Foundation in Cornelius, NC. She has been an invited artist for the last 5 years at the yearly Christ Church Annual art show in Charlotte.
Yvonne continually strives to immerse herself in her creative journey while embracing the various paths that lead her to new discoveries with new-found expression.
Color or rhythm within a given subject usually provides the impetus for the beginning of a piece and from there the painting develops.
Her energetic brushstroke and line work, use of large brushes and palette knives, adding and subtracting paint, all aid in revealing new layers and provide movement within her art. Her goal is to create a balance of chaos and control and paint application is most appealing to her as the painting transforms in the process.
Her work can be seen at Slate Interiors and The Sporting Gent in Charlotte and Home Heart and Soul in Cornelius, NC.
